About Our Faculty
Our faculty was established under Ondokuz Mayıs University in accordance with Article 27 (e) of the Law No. 2809, which was amended by the Decree Law No. 41 amended by the Law No. 4480 dated 17.11.1999.
At the Executive Board Meeting of the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education dated 22.02.2000, it was decided to establish 4 Departments, namely Department of Primary Education, Department of Classroom Teacher Education and Department of Preschool Teacher Education, Department of Foreign Languages Education, Department of English Language Education, Department of Educational Sciences and Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology Education, and 3 Departments affiliated to the Departments.
In the Executive Board meeting of the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education dated 04.04.2000, it was decided to admit students to the Department of Primary Education and the Classroom Teaching Undergraduate Programme affiliated to this department in accordance with Articles 6 of Law No. 2809, 7/d-2, 7/h of Law No. 2547 amended by Law No. 2880, and started education in the 2000-2001 academic year in the service building allocated to our University by the Ministry of National Education, which is shared with Sinop Faculty of Arts and Sciences. In the 2001-2002 academic year, students were admitted with additional quota to the Preschool Teaching Undergraduate Programme under the Department of Primary Education.
In the 2003-2004 academic year, with the decision of the Faculty Board dated 15.12.2003 and numbered 2003/4, it was proposed to open the Department of Social Studies Teacher Education and the Department of Science Teacher Education under the Department of Primary Education and to admit students. The proposal was discussed in Ondokuz Mayıs University Senate and submitted to the approval of the Council of Higher Education and in the Executive Board meeting of the Council of Higher Education dated 02.03.2004, in accordance with Article 7/d-2 of the Law No. 2547 amended by the Law No. 2880, the Department of Social Studies Teacher Education and the Department of Science Teacher Education were established under the Department of Primary Education and the Science Teacher Education Undergraduate Programme started to operate and started teaching in the 2004-2005 academic year.
While our faculty continues its education and training affiliated to Ondokuz Mayıs University, it continues its education and training by being affiliated to Sinop University, which was established by Law No. 5662, which entered into force after being published in the Official Gazette dated 29 May 2007 and numbered 26536.
Department of Educational Sciences, Department of Educational Administration, Supervision, Planning and Economics, Department of Curriculum and Instruction, Department of Educational Programmes and Instruction, Department of Measurement and Evaluation in Education and Department of Guidance and Psychological Counselling, and Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology, Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology, Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology were established in accordance with Article 7/d-2 of Law No. 2547 amended by Law No. 2880 at the Executive Board meeting of the Council of Higher Education on 25.03.2009.
Again on 28.02.2018, the issue of taking students to the Department of Guidance and Psychological Counselling, Guidance and Psychological Counselling Undergraduate Programme of the Department of Guidance and Psychological Counselling of the Department of Educational Sciences, which was discussed in the Senate of our University on 28.02.2018 and submitted to the approval of the Higher Education Council; It was discussed in the General Assembly of Higher Education on 22.03.2018 and deemed appropriate in accordance with Articles 7/d-2, 7/h of the Law No. 2547 amended by Law No. 2880, and the student intake was carried out in the 2018-2019 academic year.
At the Executive Board meeting of the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education dated 01.04.2010, it was decided to admit students to the Social Studies Teaching Undergraduate Programme affiliated to the Department of Elementary Education in accordance with Articles 7/d-2, 7/h of Law No. 3843, Law No. 4 of Law No. 2547, Law No. 2880, and started teaching in the 2010-2011 academic year.
The Department of Elementary Mathematics Education under the Department of Elementary Education, which was discussed in the Senate of our university and submitted to the approval of the Higher Education Council, was examined at the Executive Board meeting of the Presidency of the Higher Education Council dated 28.10.2010 and established in accordance with Article 7/d-2 of the Law No. 2547 amended by the Law No. 2880 and started teaching in the 2015-2016 academic year by admitting students to the Elementary Mathematics Teaching Undergraduate Programme.
In the Executive Board meeting of the Council of Higher Education dated 03.11.2011, the Department of Turkish Education, Department of Turkish Education; Department of Elementary Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge Education, Department of Elementary Religious and Moral Knowledge Education; Department of Special Education, Department of Mentally Handicapped Education and Department of Gifted Education; Department of Fine Arts Education, Department of Music Education and Department of Painting and Drawing Education were established in accordance with Articles 7/d-2, 7/h of Law No. 2547 amended by Law No. 2880. Later, as stated in the letter dated 31.05.2012 and numbered B.30.EÖB-101.03.02-3520-023736 of the Council of Higher Education, the Department of Primary Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge Education was abolished with the decision of the Higher Education Executive Board.
Students were admitted to the Turkish Language Teaching Undergraduate Programme in the 2015-2016 academic year, to the Guidance and Psychological Counselling Undergraduate Programme in the 2018-2019 academic year, and to the English Language Teaching Undergraduate Programme in the 2019-2020 academic year.
With the letter of the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education dated 23.06.2022 and numbered E-82444403-208.03.01-45838, the Department of Computer and Instructional Technologies within our Faculty was closed and the faculty members within the closed department were transferred to the Department of Instructional Technologies of the Department of Educational Sciences.
In accordance with the letters of the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education dated 17.06.2016 and numbered 75850160-101.03.01-36826 and dated 01.03.2017 and numbered 75850160-101.03.01-15759, the existing departments and departments within our Faculty have been restructured and the Departments, Departments and Undergraduate Programmes of our Faculty are given below.

Our faculty building is located at Sinop Osmaniye Mahallesi University Street No:52B.
Our faculty campus was established on a closed area of 13300 m2 on a plot of 21300 m2. Education and Training Activities and Scientific Research in the best way to maintain the best way to be equipped in accordance with today’s conditions 3 lecture theatres, 20 classrooms, 2 Computer Laboratory, 1 Science and Physics Laboratory, 1 Chemistry and Biology Laboratory, 1, Language Laboratory, 1 Conference Hall, 1 Library, 1 Painting Workshop, 1 Music Classroom, 1 Material and Group Study Classroom, 1 Drama Classroom, 4 Seminar Rooms, 2 Group Psychological Counselling Rooms, 5 Individual Psychological Counselling Rooms, 1 Lecturer’s Lounge, 43 offices for Lecturers, 10 offices for Administrative Staff.
As of 2023, there are 67 lecturers, 4 lecturers and 7 research assistants in our faculty. Within the scope of Article 33, 1 Research Assistant has been sent to various universities to do his master’s and doctorate studies.
In addition, 11 administrative staff, 3 contracted staff and 5 permanent workers work at the Faculty.
